Positive psychology app for parents of neurodivergent children (ADAPPT): study launched
R2D2-MH researchers working on the Positive Psychology App have recently launched a study to test the effectiveness of the ADAPPT app developed in the frame of R2D2-MH.
What is the ADAPPT ?
ADAPPT is an app co-developed by researchers from the University of Twente and LearnEnjoy, parents of neurodivergent children and mental health professionals.
ADAPPT aims at enhancing parents’ ability to adapt and supporting their mental health and wellbeing.
What is the ADAPPT study about ?
The study aims to test the efficiency of the app in real-life conditions. This means that parents of neurodivergent children (autism, ADHD) will have the possibility to use the app and and give their feedback to the researchers, following a specific protocol.
What will participants have to do ?
The study participants will be asked to perform exercises that are based on positive psychology and mindfulness. Eventually, study participants will be recruited in France, Germany, Israel, Switzerland, and The Netherlands,
The effectiveness of the app will be measured via:
- improvement in generic sense of ability to adapt
- mental well-being
- (parental) distress
- overall satisfaction with Adappt
